Some fine surface scratches/wear, spots of oxidation on underside, and light patina on pendant and chain. Enamel work is in near-perfect condition with no signs of damage, loss, or wear. All original marcasite stones intact, with a couple small flea bites. The frosted, camphor glass is in excellent condition. As with all vintage sterling jewelry, we do not use harsh chemicals or abrasives to remove tarnish, as this reduces the value of silver in the eyes of some buyers.

Instead, we lightly cleaned this item with a polishing cloth, leaving it up to the new owner to decide how to remove any tarnish. Back of pendant is stamped STERLING and partially marked GERMANY. There also appears to be a round maker's mark before "Sterling, " but it is simply too worn/light to make out. It is tempting to attribute this to famed Art Deco German designer Theodor Fahrner, given the sparing but impactful use of marcasites, intricate sterling work, and lush enamel inlay. But we simply don't have enough information to verify.

As it is, the pendant is a remarkable piece. The chain is not original.

It is marked 925 Italy. Both chain and pendant together weigh 14.8 grams. We carefully package each item, mostly secured in jewelry gift boxes, to help ensure the item arrives safely.
