Very unique piece of wearable art. It's a signed piece by one of the master glass blowers of our time Steven V Correia. He opened his studio in 1973 and this was actually made early in his career 1977 as dated on the back. This displays his glass work incased in a beautiful sterling pendant on an equally unique sterling silver necklace. Together they have a combined weight of 14.1g so it has a nice solid feel to it when on. This pendant was known as the "Iridescent Wave" blown glass work. Correia is famous for using proprietary formulas involving minerals and precious metals melted down at temperatures up to 2600°F. The distinct oceanic swirl pattern is achieved entirely freehand without the use of molds, which ensures that no two pendants are ever exactly alike. Because of their mastery of light and form, Correia Art Glass can be found in the permanent collections of elite institutions like the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian Institution. Feel free to ask anything, thanks.
