Vintage Sterling Silver Festoon Necklace Earrings Mottled Green Art Glass

  

Beautiful vintage matching sterling silver festoon necklace and screw-back earring set featuring striking mottled green art glass cabochons and intricate openwork silver detailing. The necklace has an elegant festoon-style construction with three round green glass cabochon stations surrounded by delicate openwork silver. Graceful double-chain swags connect the stations, accented with small creamy pearl-like beads.

The center finishes with an elongated articulated drop holding another matching green cabochon. The coordinating screw-back earrings beautifully echo the necklace design.

Each features a large domed green glass cabochon at the ear with an articulated geometric openwork drop holding a smaller matching cabochon. Together, the necklace and earrings form an unusually lovely and cohesive matching set. The domed cabochons are vintage mottled art glass, displaying swirling shades of turquoise green, mint and creamy white. Close examination shows characteristics consistent with glass, including tiny bubbles and irregular internal color swirls. Each cabochon has its own individual pattern, creating the appearance of natural stone such as jade, turquoise or chrysoprase while retaining the distinctive character of vintage art glass. The necklace is clearly marked STERLING at the clasp. The earrings are clearly marked STERLING on the back paddle attachment.

No maker has been identified. The silver retains a beautiful naturally aged patina, particularly in the recessed areas of the openwork. It has not been heavily polished, allowing the contrast and vintage character of the silverwork to remain intact.

Very good vintage condition with age-appropriate patina, oxidation and light surface wear to the sterling silver. The green art glass cabochons appear secure and display beautifully.

The necklace spring-ring clasp and earring screw-back mechanisms are intact and functional.
