This exquisite antique biscuit barrel is a fine example of early 20th-century English craftsmanship, combining elegant Sterling Silver with hand-cut crystal. Made by James Deakin & Sons and hallmarked in Sheffield, England, 1919. It is both a functional piece and a collectible treasure. Maker: James Deakin & Sons.

Date: 1919 (Sheffield date letter "b"). Assay Marks: Crown (Sheffield), Lion Passant.

925 sterling silver, and maker's mark JD&S. Materials: Sterling silver rim, lid, and handles; hand-cut lead crystal body. Diamond and star-cut pattern in the upper section of the crystal.

Geometric Art Deco-inspired sterling silver handles. Domed silver lid with ball finial. Dimensions: Height: 5 3/16", Width handle to handle: 8", Depth: 5.

Weight: 1lb 13.6 oz. Excellent antique condition; minor surface wear consistent with age. No chips or cracks to the crystal. Silver retains a beautiful patina, easily polished to a bright shine. Biscuit barrels were an essential part of refined English tea service in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods.
