Manufactured during the height of Tiffany & Co. S golden years, no expense was spared on the design and construction of this piece. The tray measures 10-5/8 inches across, and the glass bowl, fitting snugly at the center of the piece, measures 4-3/4 inches across. The piece is designed to serve caviar, with a covered bowl at center for the caviar and the surrounding tray available for toast points or other edible treats. Today, these trays are popular for serving any number of modern comestibles, including of course, caviar. This tray retains the original glass insert and sterling lid which is often lost over the years. Designed during the early part of the twentieth century, this pattern debuted in 1912, and was much beloved by Tiffany collectors by the time it was retired years later.

We can definitively date this particular piece of Tiffany to between 1912 (the year the pattern debuted) and 1947, when the makers mark used on the back of the piece was retired, making it between 79 and 114 years old. While this piece is monogrammed with the initials "AF", they are easy to disguise as they are not visible when the glass bowl is inserted and the lid on, or when the bowl is filled - making this piece even more desirable. Rare, antique pieces of Tiffany and Company silver are an expensive and prestigious collectible and usually do not remain on the market for long. This will be insured and need to be signed for.
