2 Adie & Lovekin Sterling Silver Salt Cellars Birmingham 1907 with blue glass. Here we have a set of charming and unusual Edwardian Sterling Silver Salt Cellars in the shape of canoes.

This is a substantial item in a good heavy gauge of silver and features a cobalt blue glass insert in perfect shape. Founded by James Adie and Alfred Lovekin in 1863, the firm specialised in fancy goods and novelty items and are particularly well known for their sterling curios and are much sought after by collectors. Condition is very good with just one tiny ding on one one side of the canoe.

The green felt cover on the cushion is probably not the original but it has been nicely done and is in keeping with the original style. Please make sure to view all the photographs. The canoe is of a good size, measuring 9.5cm / 3.7ins long by 2.1cm / 0.83ins wide and standing 2.6cm / 1in high at the prow. It weighs in at 59.6g / 2.1oz but this does of course include the pin cushion material. The hallmarks, on the side of the canoe, are slightly rubbed but still nice and clear to read.

They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter h for 1907 and the A & L Ld makers' mark for Adie & Lovekin Ltd. This item is in the category "Antiques\Silver\Sterling Silver (. The seller is "m-aldercotte" and is located in this country: CA. This item can be shipped worldwide.
