Antique English Hallmarked Sterling Silver Lidded Glass Vanity Scent Bottles

  
Elegant matched pair of English hallmarked Sterling silver and faceted glass perfume/scent bottles. These pieces measure over 4 inches in height and 2.5 inches wide. The hallmarks indicate that the pieces were crafted by London silversmiths Mappin & Webb in the year 1920 during the reign of George V. The Sterling silver lids feature a machine turned design with a vacant cartouche (no monogram). These lids sit atop heavy faceted glass bottles which sport Sterling screw style collars which are also hallmarked. The lids are in excellent antique condition with no noticeable scratches and only one very small surface dent per lid above the hallmarks. The lids operate as intended, screwing on and off again easily and smoothly. One of the bottles is free from any damage other than minimal surface scratching consistent with age and use.

The second bottle has unfortunately suffered a small chip to the very bottom somewhere during its long life, as well as a crack to the inside rim of the glass. This latter cracked area is slightly rough to the touch on the inside rim of the bottle. These minor chips do not detract from either the beauty or functionality of the piece.

These scent bottles are items of real quality and distinction and would add style and grace to anyone's dressing table.
