An EXCEPTIONAL large Victorian cut crystal decanter with a London 1879 sterling silver collar by A. The heavy, brilliantly clear crystal body displays deep wheel-cut diamond and hobnail patterns typical of the premier Stourbridge glasshouses of the period.

The cutting quality, weight, and crisp execution strongly suggest manufacture by Richardson or Thomas Webb, both leading English makers known for supplying high-end blanks to London silversmiths. This elegant decanter stands 12 3/8 inches tall and measures 4 3/8 inches in diameter at the widest point. It retains its original star-cut mushroom stopper, perfectly fitted. The sterling collar is fully hallmarked with the lion passant. 925 sterling standard, London assay mark, date letter "D" for 1879, and the maker's mark A.

S & Ld for A. This is a premium Victorian example-excellent proportions, outstanding clarity, and exceptional cutting depth. No chips to the body; stopper with only minimal expected wear to peg. Sterling collar secure and hallmarks crisp. Glass is brilliantly clear with no cloudiness or staining.
