Antique Belle Epoque era French sterling silver & cut glass liquor service for absenthe. Comprising of two stoppered decanters, a tumbler cup, sugar bowl, and tray.
Richly decorated with neoclassical Empire style motifs, including intaglio engravings of palmettos and garland swags. The sterling mounts feature ornamental friezes detailing graceful swans with wings outspread carrying festoons in their beaks. Conical shaped stoppers to the decanters. Fully hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, in use from 1838, which guaranteed the finest quality silver of.950/1000 purity 95% silver and a higher grade than the standard. The set is in overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. Some surface marks/scratches to the glass tray to be expectant with use. There are some nicks to the base of the stopper of the larger decanter.
A slight indention to the bottom edge rim of the large decanter. Tumbler cup: Stands 3 7/8" height x 2 3/8" diameter opening. Small decanter: 6" Height x 2" diameter base.
