Gorgeous, antique, Double-Ended (for scent salts and perfume), bottle - second half 19thC, England. Made of hand blown ruby red glass with two beautiful ornate sterling lids. The double ended bottles - a Victorian era invention - a combination of scent bottle with a smelling bottle, or vinaigrette. The bottle also has a small glass stopper (on the perfume end). The perfume side often has a "screw on" lid and a glass stopper.
The lids on these types of bottles are often made of silver or silver alloys. On this bottle it is marked "Sterling" and it was also gilded (the gilt has worn off but still can be visible). Condition: very good overall condition considering the age. Use related marks and scratches on the glass, wear to gilt on the lids. Patina on the silver lids. Some minor scabbing on the glass stopper and in the interior neck areas. Wear and patina to gold finish on the neck and the lid areas. Some minor bending and dints to metal parts. Some residue on the interiors. Please see pictures for more details.
