Antique Gorham Sterling Silver & Glass Box Memorial Engraving 1844-1921, 60g

  

This is a beautiful antique Gorham sterling silver and glass box with a unique memorial inscription. The sterling silver lid is engraved. "In Memoriam · Mary Amelia Magnus · 1844 - 1921". It features a raised cross finial handle on the lid and a heavy glass base.

The inside of the lid is gold-washed. The box is marked on the side: Gorham hallmark, Sterling, 3509. Material: Sterling Silver & Glass.

Weight of lid: 60 grams (sterling portion only). 4.75" x 3.25" x 2.5. Condition: Very good antique condition. The silver has light surface wear and polishing marks consistent with age.

The glass base is intact with some expected small scratches from use. This is both a decorative and historically significant piece, blending Gorham's craftsmanship with a personal memorial from the early 20th century. Would make a fine addition to a sterling silver collection, memorial/commemorative objects, or as a unique antique display piece.
