Retro Glamour handmade vintage amethyst colored glass necklace, sterling silver

  

This fabulous double strand necklace is made from vintage West German amethyst colored glass (slightly darker than amethyst), both coated and shiny, and matte faceted vintage glass. It's a luxurious and elegant combination for this two strand necklace with a sterling silver clasp that has the Chinese symbol for good fortune on it. The necklace strands fit perfectly on top of one another, which isn't easy to do, to have them lay flat and lay almost against one another, that is an art in and of itself and not many people even try to do it, instead they leave a few inches of space between the first and second strand which is much, much easier. Take it from someone, me, the artist, who, after 14 years of designing and creating original jewelry pieces, what's easy and what's difficult.

I tend towards the difficult most of the time because the result is what you see in the photos above, a classy, one-of-a-kind necklace, using vintage glass that most likely can't be found at all or in very, very few places. I use the same color transluscent glass seed beads to separate each bead and so that the necklace drapes excellently and so that the necklace itself is flexible and not stiff.

I won't give away all of my secrets but suffice it to say that the necklace, and all of my bracelets and necklaces drape and have the flexibility as if I strung them on silk thread, which I also do occasionally. This necklace happens to be on very strong stainless steel wire. I use the best material available.

I use the best material for several reasons. Beads do turn and no matter what material is used to string them on, sooner or later a necklace will break.
