Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a GORGEOUS 18th Century Georgian Period oval, boat shaped sugar basket with its original cobalt glass liner, c. Measures 5" high, 4 1/4" wide and 6 5/8 long.

Weighs 7.6 ounces (with the glass liner removed). This fabulous silver basket has a wide pierced and engraved design around the sides with a cartouche in the center of the front that is beautifully monogrammed.

The design of this basket is incredible! It has an attached reeded swing handle and the upper rim with matching foot rim. The cobalt glass liner is in exceptional condition and is exactly shaped to fit into the silver basket.

The silver is further embellished with a bright cut swag design just above the pedestal base and in a band that circles the raised portion of the pedestal base. On one side is a cartouche beautifully engraved with initials appearing to be "T E F". This wonderful basket is clearly marked w ith the correct English hallmarks for the period. The lion passant, crowned leopard's head, date letter "r" for 1792 and the sovereign's head duty mark as well as the maker's stamp "C F" for silversmith Crispin Fuller.

The handle is also marked with the lion passant for Sterling. This beautiful sugar basket is in unbelieveable condition for silver of this age. There are no dings, dimples, scratches or other flaws that I can find anywhere on this fabulous piece.

It has obviously been lovingly cared for and reflects this care showing only the expected signs of gentle use. Silver from the George III period is definitely investment quality silver and this impressive sugar basket is no exception!
