Antique Edwardian 1908 5pc Sterling Silver Cruet Set Blue Glass Mustard Salt Pot

  

Welcome to William Sharpe Antiques. Here today for your consideration we have this beautiful Edwardian sterling silver cruet set, made by Harrison & Hipwood of Birmingham, c-1908. This beautiful set includes two pepper pots, two open salt dishes and a lidded mustard pot. The salts and mustard pot include beautiful cobalt blue glass liners, with the pepper pots having hallmarked and tightly fitting lids. Condition is fair overall, with the set displaying very well.

As is common with sets like this, there is a fair bit of salt corrosion internally to some pieces, and a few bends to the fine silver rims. The glass liners are in good order, having no damage to note. The hallmarks are about 50% overall, with some pieces all but worn and others quite faded. All in all, this is a very attractive cruet set that will be a welcome addition to any table. The pepper pots stand 6.5cm tall with the salt dishes having a diameter of 4.5cm at the rim. The total weight of the set is 238gms, with the silver content accounting for a generous 164gms of this.

However, normal signs of use including shallow depressions, fine scratches, and minor pattern and hallmark wear should be expected.

All pieces (unless expressly stated above) have undertaken a very light polish with respect to the original patina, and a decision for further polishing will be left to the new custodian.
