One of a few sets of matching antique to vintage French sterling topped vanity sets that Ive recently been working on, getting ready for listing so, if youre looking for a few pieces to display in a guest or master bath, be sure to browse a little while youre with us. They really do add a touch of elegance, displayed on an old silver tray or even just by themselves, grouped near the sink perhaps. This set consisting of three perfume or cologne bottles, a long slender toothbrush jar and two smaller jars, one round and one oval.No monograms, nothing overly frilly here, just an elegant old French vanity set. The silver portions all bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number 1 within those marks means theyre all in. 950 silver 95% pure and higher than the. 925 standard for sterling silver.
The silversmith marks are likely for Lucien Schilt, Paris circa 1909. A tiny bit of cloudiness on the inside of the perfume/cologne bottles and there are some chips to them, mostly on their bases (see images) but no cracks to note.All stoppers are there, one with chip to ribbed top and all with tiny nips to inner tips. One of the silver collars on a perfume bottle with a dent to its top side. A few faint dimples to the silver and a bit of surface scuffing but no other notable damage.
